American actor and musician Awkwafina made her debut with humorous rap tracks that tackled sexual identity and race with a an incisive and humorous perspective, before expanding her reach into Hollywood. Born Nora Lum to Chinese and Korean immigrants within Forest Hills Queens her first taste of musician life came through trumpet. Apart from classical music and jazz, she started to study hip-hop during her teens.
